Ice cream sensory exploration

Ice cream sensory exploration

This week in the baby room we continued with the cool summer vibes. We gave the babies another exciting sensory experience. Exploring real ice cream! We created our very own mini ice cream parlour where the babies were encouraged to scoop up the ice cream, fill and empty the bowls and cones. The babies were very keen to use their hands to explore the texture and temperature of the ice cream and they also used their hands to grab and squeeze the ice cream between their fingers. During this activity we promoted sensory and action related key words such as cold, sticky ,pour and drip when the ice cream started to melt. The babies then had a little taste of the ice cream in their own little bowls. They enjoyed everything about this experience from watching excitedly as it was prepared, right to the most fun part which was the tasting.
