Hungry caterpillar

This week in baby room we took a look at one of our favourite stories. ‘The hungry caterpillar’. To begin us read the hungry caterpillar story and looked at all the different types of food the caterpillar ate. We were able to link the fruits to our own snacks and meals at nursery which helped us to extend our links to language. To extend this further we then explored our own caterpillar toys within the room, this helped us make links to the story. We then extended the activity by creating our very own hungry caterpillar for the babies to feed. The babies enjoyed using their large motor skills and displayed great hand eye coordination whilst posting the foods through the holes. This was a great way to encourage role play and testing our ideas within the baby room as the babies equally enjoyed pretending to feed themselves and each other with the play food.
