Europe Day
On Tuesday the babies enjoyed learning about the European continent. We researched many different flags in the iPad and then choose some which we then decided to paint. We used our fine motor skills to pick up the paint brush and then enjoyed making a backwards and forwards stroke motion painting our own version of different flags. We then decided to make some waffles. We enjoyed exploring all the different ingredients used and enjoyed using our fine motor skills to place them into the bowl, we then enjoyed mixing all the ingredients together. We then needed our adults help to place the mixture into the waffle machine as this was hot. We enjoyed watching the waffles being cooked. Once it was cooked we waited for it to cool down and then we tried it.
Toddler room explored Europe day by talking about the different animals we might see in a forest or if we are outside exploring. We then extended this by exploring our own forest tuft tray. We hid the animals in the bushes and played peekaboo with our friends. We role played with the animals and pretended to make them eat and sleep. We then extended this by making our own animal puzzle collages for our display strengthening our fine motor skills by doing so.
In preschool, the children looked at the map of Europe and drew their own. The children then used the tablets and the touch and tilt to research about the different animals that live in all the different countries in Europe. They children had recognised some of the different animals and said “I’ve seen foxes before.” Preschool used the tablets to trace some of their favourite animals and added it to their maps!
