Elmer
For world storytelling month we focused on the story character Elmer. First, we read some stories about Elmer and then the children used their fine motor skills to stick tissue paper on to milk bottles to create their very own Elmer the Elephants. Next, We spoke about the colour of elephants and compared them to the colours of Elmer. Some children made good attempts at repeating colour names, and we also used words such as bright and colourful to describe Elmer. We then created a tuff tray to explore colours and added the Babies Elmer creations and real Elephants, cooked coloured spaghetti for a sensory aspect and used coloured blocks, rainbows and play people to incorporate colour names and numbers into the activity.
