Puffins, Pelicans and Penguins were all very excited to help wash the chicks and watch them splash about in the water. The familiar adults within the room supported and encouraged the children to observe and be gentle with the chicks. The activity was further extended by using visual aids such as ducks to help the children develop their counting skills.
The children then went onto listen to a story about boats and took part in a small role play activity linked to the story. The familiar adults within the room the further supported the children’s learning and enjoyment by extending the activity into the large tuft tray where children were able to incorporate different textures, animals and small world people.
