This week, the toddlers really enjoyed exploring the doctor’s surgery. The children experimented with the different types of medical equipment that doctor’s use and role played with the dolls and each other using the bandages, stethoscopes and dressing up. The children observed and asked questions about the different body parts using the visual cards that was provided and tried matching some of the body cards to where they were on the dolls and themselves. As the children played and explored at the doctor’s tuff tray, they spoke about their own personal experiences when seeing a doctor and why they went.
The activity was also extended by looking at a short clip about a doctor’s surgery and how doctors take x-rays on different parts of people’s bodies such as hands, arms, legs and feet. The children then did an arts and crafts activity after watching the short clip and made x-ray collage pictures using black card, white paint and cotton wool sticks.
