Creative Train
This week in the toddler room there have been a lot of discussions during circle time regarding different types of transport we used during the holidays. As a result of this we decided to get creative this week and create a large train for our display board. We used guttering and paint to roll different vehicles along paper to create a steam effect. We were able to test the different speeds of our vehicles by moving the guttering higher and lower on the post. We were also able to explore making our own marks with the vehicles using our gross motor skills to move them on the paper. We then made some tracks using some of our own train track and printing with them. We created our own patterns and shapes and enjoyed exploring colour mixing as we painted. For our final activity we used boxes to create our train. We used glue sticks to spread glue all over the boxes and stuck lots of different materials on top to create our train. We loved using the recycled bottle caps to make wheels. This was a lovely activity to help with our fine motor skills and hand eye coordination. Throughout this activity we were able to begin to make short sentences and repeat key words like “Train on track.” And “choo choo” Well done toddlers what a creative week we have had!
