Creating Sun Catchers

Creating Sun Catchers

This week in preschool we have been exploring sun catchers, we learned the science behind the light beaming through the sun catchers to make beautiful colours to surround the environment. We did a large-scale sun catcher on tuft tray using watery acrylic paints and cling film. The children enjoyed exploring the paint and mixing it to make newer colours.

We then made our own personal sun catchers using coloured see-through film and tissue paper using the method we learned from the touch and tilt demonstration! In this we used math skills to cut shapes of different colours also practicing our cutting skills with scissors.

We were disappointed when the sun didn’t come out to play so we used the torches inside a dark environment to test out if our sun catchers carried the light how it’s supposed to.

Well done preschool for focusing well and taking so much interest in this activity.
