Bonfire Night/Parkin Cake Baking
On Friday 5th November the children enjoyed the nursery bonfire night celebrations and enjoyed a range of activities linked with fireworks. The children enjoyed creating their own firework creations during a large scale paint splatting activities. The children enjoyed observing the colours mixing and the effects of the paint hitting the paper. The children thoroughly enjoyed using their gross motor skills to flick the paint further making larger marks.
To support fine motor skills the children created their individual fireworks using string with paint to drip and create lines and marks using a variety of different colours.
The preschool children enjoyed baking a parkin cake which is traditionally enjoyed on bonfire night in the north of England. The children researched the recipe and ingredients which included following the step-by-step instructions to bake the Parkin cake.
