Beach Fun

This week we started our new summer topic. As a lot of our children have been going on holiday recently, we chose a beach theme. We made a textured themed tray with edible sand. We added some shells and play people. We really enjoyed exploring and role playing with the people moving them around and listening to the crunching sound they made in the cereal. We learned new words like “beach”, “sand” and “crunch” as we played and explored. To extend this we then made some beautiful beach textured collages. We sprinkled and spread some crushed cereal onto the paper and added pasta to create the shells that we had in our tray. We then used blue paint and spaghetti to create the sea. We really enjoyed looking at the effects the different materials created on the paper. When we finished our creations we took great pride in showing our friends and adults. Well done toddlers what lovely beach activities.
