Animal Shadows

This week in toddler room we continued our light and dark topic by exploring shadows. We made the sensory room dark and shone torches on our animals. We tested lots of different ideas for where we could put the animals. We tried holding them close to the torches to see what would happen. Then we held them up while our adults shone the torch on them. We decided the best place was to line our animals in front of the light table and shine our torches on them there. This helped us explore moving closer and away from the shadows and assess what would happen. We enjoyed looking at our own shadows too and making shapes with our hands and fingers. We extended this by making some shadow shapes on paper and trying to draw round them. Well done toddlers what great problem solving this week.
