Animal Habitats
This week in preschool we have enjoyed starting our animals from around the world topic. We enjoyed sorting the different animals into the habitats they live in, including the Jungle, Antarctic, farms, dessert, and the sea. We used our own knowledge of animals plus reading different books to help us navigate the animals in the tuft tray to the correct habitual area. Preschool also enjoyed exploring the different textures in the tray as well, boosting their sensory development.
After this we enjoyed a cutting and sticking activity where we spoke about warm habitats and cold habitats, we had to use our fine motor skills to follow the lines and cut out the animals to sort and stick them into the correct categories. The different habitats on paper had a banner image as well as the title of the dessert, sea, rainforest, and Antarctic at the top to help them understand the look of the habitat compared to the name of the habitat, where we spoke about the different sounds in the habitat name and what it begins with. The children enjoyed having a go at this and learning through trial and error, bettering their understanding of the world and where different animals live.
