This week in baby room the babies have shown a key interest in playing in the home corner, so to extend their interest we decided to make animal cookies. We started off by looking at the recipe and then went to the kitchen to gather all the ingredients. The babies sat around the table and enjoyed looking at the different ingredients. We then started off by adding the ingredients to the bowl and they enjoyed mixing it all together. We introduced new words such as ‘mixing’, ‘bowl’, and spoon. The babies responded by babbling away. We then enjoyed placing the mixture on the table and enjoyed using the rolling pin and animal cookie cutters to cut out the different animal cookies. The babies enjoyed adding the raisins to their biscuits. We linked this to the nursery rhyme ‘old mc Donald had a farm’ and the babies enjoyed singing and making animal noises.
