America’s Continent
On Wednesday the babies enjoyed learning about America’s continent. We did some research on the iPad and looked at the famous river which is known as the Amazon river. We then created our own river using jello baff, green coloured rice to represent grass. We enjoyed exploring different textures within the tray and enjoyed exploring in the tray. We enjoyed making the noise of the dolphin and enjoyed making them swim in the water. To explore the Americas continents we looked at different owls and birds that live there. We used the ipads and touch and tilt table to conduct our research. We then linked it to the owl babies story which we made a tuft tray activity of. In our tuft tray we were able to become creative and create our own nests for the owls using feathers and natural materials.
The children in preschool learned all about the different animals that live in North and South America and their different habitats. The children compared the different animals that live in the different continents and discussed the differences between them. The children then sorted the different animals between the two American continents and realised that some animals such as the spider monkey live in both! The children were able to explore new animals such as a capybara and axolotl!
