All Aboard
This week in the preschool room we looked at trains. We firstly went on a local trip to the library to look at the different types of transport books. The children enjoyed looking at the books individually and also enjoyed listening to storied being read. We then brought the books back to nursery and the children chose what book they want for our ‘book of the month’. The children chose the book ‘Trains, Trains, Trains’. The children enjoyed listening to the story of the train book and enjoyed listening and identifying different types of trains. We then extended on the children’s play idea by setting up a train station out of soft play and chairs. The children role played being at the train station and enjoyed hearing the different announcements. The preschools first went to the ticket master to buy tickets. The children gave their peers coins and in return the children got their tickets to board the trains. The children enjoyed role playing driving the train and enjoyed boarding on the train announcing different stations. One child said “we are at Dalston Kingsland station”. The children then enjoyed mark making their own maps and enjoyed learning about the difference between a overground and underground.
