We have outstanding, long-term relationships with local schools. The children enjoy visits to their schools. We welcome their teachers to visit the children at nursery to fully prepare them for the transition to school.
Our highly qualified and long serving team members include a qualified teacher who has experience in local schools in Reception Classes. She fully understands what is expected of children when they transition to Reception Classes.
We focus on the 7 areas of learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum to ensure that children meet the Early Learning Goals to succeed in Reception Class.
The children’s learning experiences include fully immersing children in the materials they will use in their Reception Class. We introduce children to the Oxford Reading Tree scheme, letter formation, and a handwriting scheme. We provide a weekly phonics session with Robot Reg, a very enjoyable specialist teacher session.
Children are trained to be competent risk takers who can evaluate risks in their play. They have access to regular risky play activities when children focus on fine and gross motor skills and hand eye co-ordination. This is something strongly supported by Ofsted.
Children access the local community weekly for Forest School sessions, library trips and visits to local businesses. This provides wonderful opportunities for children to gain a broad understanding of our world and their community.
The nursery has working children’s kitchen. Children are immersed in regular cooking activities with support for the preparation of healthy meals and snacks. Our nursery nursery chef cooks with the children. Children are supported to be independent from an early age and take on the responsibility of self-service meals.
Children’s wellbeing is at the centre of everything we do; children are supported to be able to regulate their emotions and use the language of feelings to communicate with others.
Parents are actively involved in their children’s learning with daily updates and correspondence on our Famly App and regular parent events, coffee mornings and parents evening meetings.
At the end of your child’s journey with us before the transition to Reception a Passport to school is created to give the reception teacher a full handover.
Children shine at their Graduation Ceremony. This is a very special time for children, families and the team who have watched the children grow and develop.
